Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 August 2026

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Crewter you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must provide accurate information about your identity, work history, and certifications.
  • One account per person. Agencies and training centres register separate entity accounts linked to a human owner.

3. What you can't do

  • Impersonate another person or organisation
  • Post defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, or illegal content
  • Submit false work history, fake certifications, or fraudulent reviews
  • Scrape the site at automated volumes without permission
  • Circumvent rate limits, anti-abuse, or authentication systems
  • Upload malware or attempt to exploit vulnerabilities

4. Reviews and insights

Reviews and insights about yachts must be:

  • Based on your actual personal experience working on the yacht (we check crew_experiences records)
  • Truthful and stated as your opinion where appropriate
  • Free of defamatory claims, personal attacks, or unverifiable serious accusations

Low-rating reviews are screened by AI moderation before publication. We may remove reviews that violate these rules.

Anonymous reviews: if you choose to review anonymously, your identity is not stored on the review row — we cannot identify you to a yacht owner even if compelled to. See the Privacy Policy for the technical detail.

5. Job applications

When you apply to a job you authorise Crewter to send your profile, CV, and optional cover note to the employer or agency listed. Applications to external (non-Crewter) employers are sent to the contact email we have on file for that source, on your behalf. Rate limits apply (max 10 applications per 24 hours per user).

6. Agencies and training centres

When you register an agency or training centre you warrant that you have authority to represent that entity. We may verify this before granting a “Verified” badge. We may remove entities that misrepresent their affiliation or issue fraudulent credentials.

7. Content ownership and licence

You own what you post. By posting, you grant Crewter a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content on the platform for as long as your account exists. You can delete your content at any time.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time via Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abuse, or pose legal risk to the platform. We'll generally notify you unless urgency or legal process requires otherwise.

9. Disclaimers

Crewter is provided “as is”. We make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your requirements. Job listings, reviews, and crew profiles are user-generated — verify independently before acting on them. We are not a recruitment agency and don't guarantee placements.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) ZAR 1,000.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Cape Town unless mandatory local consumer protection law provides otherwise.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be emailed to registered users. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
